Jiangxi Xingyu Activists Receive Severe Sentencing

On June 19 three Xingyu activists, Liu Ping, Wei Zhongping,
and Li Sihua, received heavy jail sentences.

They have become the latest victims of the CCP suppression
of the dissidents for demanding official property declaration.

Charged with provocation, Liu Ping and Wei Zhongping got
six and a half years imprisonment, Li Sihua got three years.

The three were arrested for holding banners near Liu Ping’s
apartment demanding official publicizing of his assets.

They also went online calling for the release of jailed
prisoners of conscience.

Their lawyers and families claimed the verdict was unfair,
and are thinking about going to appeal.

Amnesty International issued a statement condemning
the heavy sentences of the three activists.

William Nee, Amnesty International’s China Researcher, said,
‘The charges against these activists were preposterous.

Demanding financial transparency from officials should not
in any way constitute ‘picking quarrels’ and ‘illegal assembly’.

On the sentencing day, netizens with banners outside the court,
in support of the three activists, were also arrested by the police.

Ilham Receives Secret Sentence, Could Be The Death Penalty?

Beijing Uyghur scholar Ilham has been held for five months.
It seems he will receive sentencing in secret.

His attorney Li Fangping was told by two sources that Ilham
was tried secretly by a Xinjiang military court.

The outcome was as severe as the death penalty. But the
authorities have neither confirmed nor denied this.

Beijing’s Central Nationalities University Associate Professor
Ilham Tohti is a modest but outspoken academic.

He is also the founder of the Uighur Online website.

His criticisms of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) minority
policy got him arrested in January 2014 from his home..

A Radio Free Asia report, says that Li Fangping and Ilham’s
wife Guzailai Nuer are going to verify the relevant information.

Amnesty International said in a statement, “If these reports
about a ‘secret trial’ prove to be true, this will truly be another
dent in China’s facade of being a country based on the rule
of law.”

Multiple Workers Strike In China

Multiple strikes are taking place in China over protests of
delayed wages and welfare benefits.

According to Chinese Jasmine Revolution website, 2,000 staff
of a manufacturer in Shanghiai, started striking on June 10.

The company was delaying payment on wages and pensions.

On June 18, workers went to the local government to defend
their rights, but were stopped by the police.

In Chongqing, hundreds of Foxconn workers in Shapingba
District also went on strike on June 17.

They are protesting at the upcoming closure of the factory
and the unfairly low compensation.

In Hebei, a shoe manufacturer in Xinji city unexpectedly
withheld wages from the workers.

Around 700 workers have thus conducted a two day strike
between June 17 and 18.
