Why Zhang Wannian’s Death Less Notable than A Singer’s

Zhang Wannian, former Vice-Chairman of the CCP
Central Military Commission, recently died.
State-run media reported his death only briefly
Few ordinary people mourned his death either.
People discussed in online forums why there were prayers
for singer Yao Beina’s death everywhere,
but as Vice-Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission,
almost nobody mourned Zhang’s death.
Please read the report.

On Jan 14, Zhang Wannian, died.
State-run media didn’t report Zhang’s death in a big way.
“People’s Daily" and “Xinhua Agency" only reported his death
briefly in a 100 words or so.

In the report from website"Caixin.com",
Zhang wasn’t described as “revolutionist" or “comrade".
It didn’t even mention Zhang died of an illness
but only said Zhang “died".

It’s discussed over posts from forum “bbs.tianya.cn"
why prayerss are said all over the place
for young singer, Yao Beina’sdeath.

However, few were mourning for Zhang Wannian.

Zhong Weiguang, renowned political scientist, said:
“Zhang Wannian’s situation is like any other CCP official
who lost their power during the inner-party struggles.
When Zhang died, he ended up less respected than a singer,
even less respected than a dog.
Liu Shaoqi is another model example.
Therefore, the communist party has to be disintegrated.
Those attached to the party should withdraw from it.
Only by then can you live like a real human being. “

Zhang Wannian, born in 1928, a protégé of Jiang Zemin,
was commander of the Guangzhou and Jinan military region.
After Jiang Zemin took office, in 1992, Zhang was promoted
member of the CCP central military commission and
director of the General Staff of the PLA (People’s Liberation Army).

In 1993, Zhang was promoted to General. In 1995, Zhang was
elevated to Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission.

As reported by Hong Kong “Chengming" Magazine in Dec, 2002,
Zhang Wannian, controlling CCP military power, suddenly proposed
a “special agenda" at the 4th meeting of the Standing
Committee of 16th National Congress. Zhang proposed
to vote by show of hands to force Hu jintao to accept
Jiang Zemin as Chairman of the CCP Central Military Commission.

In this way, not only did Jiang Zemin make the other
5 Standing Committee members step down with tricks,
he also increased the number of members of the Standing
Committee from 7 to 9. Jiang also promoted his protégés
Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Li Changchun and Luo Gan
to the Standing Committee by taking advantage of the opportunity.

Commentator Heng He:"Starting from Mao Zedong,
each of the party heads has a piece of political heritage.
Jiang Zemin’s is the persecution of Falun Gong.
Therefore, whoever he chose as his successors,
he had to make sure the successors continue his policy
of persecuting Falun Gong.
That’s why he wanted to stick around the position of
Chairman of the Central Military Commission for a while. “

Then why did Zhang Wannian help Jiang Zemin succeed in the
position of Chairman of Central Military Commission for 2 terms?

Based upon the “Biography of Zhang Wannian",
Zhang is the No.1 advocate for the persecution of Falun Gong.
On April 25, 1999, tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners
petitioned at Zhongnanhai.
Jiang Zemin stressed that military members
also showed up in the petition.
Jiang told Zhang Wannian to strengthen military
“political ideology" work.

Zhang Wannian held an emergency conference that very night.
He ordered an urgent deployment of Beijing military and police
to oppose to “Falun Gong”.

Li Qihua, Director of 301 PLA Hospital was one of the first victims.

Li Qihua, a senior military doctor had been honored many times
in various battles, though even as director of a hospital
he couldn’t cure his wife’s illness.

Even the best medical therapy was useless.
Yet, all his wife’s illnesses disappeared after she practiced Falun Gong.

He was impressed by the miracles that Falun Gong brought about.

He also started to learn about Falun Gong and
became a practitioner himself later on.

After April 25, the CCP Central Military Commission transmitted
a series of documents in order to further persecute Falun Gong.
Li Qihua, more than 80 years old, in order to prevent the CCP
from making wrong decisions, wrote to senior CCP officials
about his own experiences as a Falun Gong practitioner.

He told people about how he and his wife benefited
from Falun Gong and how Falun Gong can be helpful
in building the country’s moral fabric.

Zhang Wannian turned in Li Qihua’s letter to Jiang Zemin,
along with a report of his own comments.

Jiang Zemin, right after, wrote to the Central Military Commission
to start persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in the military
on a large scale. Jiang specifically called off 3 people’s names,
one of them was Li Qihua.

Heng He: “Zhang Wannian personally directed the persecution
of Falun Gong practitioners in the military starting from 1999.
As for the persecution, Zhang and Jiang share common interest
and common blood-debt.
Zhang also needed to make sure Jiang’s policies of persecuting
Falun Gong remained unchanged. “

Now, a lot of big events take place in the CCP’s military teams.

On Jan 15,, the CCP military announced to investigate 16 generals
over corruption allegations. It’s said that this action is meant to
over-ride Jiang Zemin’s power in the military.
