Zhou Yongkang’s Fate likely Worse han Huang Ju

Recently, sources said that in an extended meeting of
Politburo, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader
Xi Jinping suggested to cancel death immunity privileges
for standing committee members.
This move shows that Xi will fight"tigers"in his campaign
against corruption is to move it to the Politburo level.
Zhou Yongkang’s confidant, Guo Yongxiang who
has followed Zhou for 18 years, is now under investigation.
Zhou Yongkang’s closest allies are continuously
being arrested, outsiders speculating that
Zhou’s fate is likely to be much worse than Huang Ju,
a member of the Politburo.

On 23rd June, the CCP media issued an announcement
from the Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection.
It said that Guo Yongxiang, former chairman of
Sichuan provincial Literary Federation, was suspected of “serious disciplinary violations".
Some media analyzed that 64-year-old Guo served on
Sichuan’s provincial committee and as vice governor in 2006.
He has followed Zhou Yongkang for 18 years, and
is one of Zhou’s confidants.

Since 2012, Zhou’s relatives and allies were placed
under investigation one after another.
It includes Li Chuncheng, former the Sichuan province vice
governor and Wu Yongwen, Hubei provincial party secretary.

Sources said that Xi Jinping proposed a letter of
anti-corruption with Premier Li Keqiang.
They suggested removing the internal rule from the"members
of the Politburo, who remain free from criminal investigation".
Outsiders called this rule a"death free"warrant.

If the death free warrant is removed by Xi,
Zhou Yongkang will be placed under high risk.
Hong Kong’s Front-Line magazine reported that

Guo Yongxiang’s downfall reminds people of Wang Weigong,
the secretary of former CCP vice chairman Huang Ju.
Wang Weigong was arrested a month later after Huang died.

Comparing Huang with Zhou, with Zhou still being alive,
but his confidants were arrested one by one.
It indicates that Zhou’s future is likely to fare much worse.

Huang Ju died in Beijing in June 2007,
his corpse was hastily cremated.
Chinese authority neither held a funeral service nor
issued a traditional article about his career.
It is an unprecedented for a member of politburo
who was still in his post.

Front-Line said that Zhou Yongkang controls Sichuan,
since Li Chuncheng’s removal,
Zhou’s allies in Sichuan are worried about their fate.

Xia Xiaoqiang, current affairs commentator said that
now the CCP top-level are targeting Zhou Yongkang.
There are two main reasons. From a political point of view,
Zhou is not only a Jiang Zemin faction’s key person,
who plotted a coupe to block the succession of Xi Jinping,
but also is an implementer.
Secondly, if Xi doesn’t remove Zhou,
it is difficult to settle the Bo Xilai case,
and is hard to remove the danger of
seizing power to the Bo and Jiang factions.

Xia Xiaoqiang: Although Zhou Yongkang has lost power,

Jiang’s faction still uses its deep-rooted forces within the
CCP to challenge Xi and create incidents in major affairs.
Such as the recent leak of the Edward Snowden event;

and Hong Kong’s chief executive Leung Chuny-Ying
sent people to disturb the Falun Gong Group.
These incidents show that Xi will have difficulties moving
forward without cleaning-up Zhou Yongkang.

Xia Xiaoqiang analyzed that, recently China’s “cash shortage"
and the stock markets rapid falling indicated that
Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang are facing resistance
from CCP interest groups.
Xia said that Li Keqiang intended to change
the policy of state-owned business monopolies,
especially in oil, banks, postal services, railways,
telecommunications and other industries.
Since it touches Jiang Zemin’s and Zhou Yongkang’s
livelihood and death point.

Zhou Yongkang and his son use their influence within
the petroleum industry and the Political and Legislative Committee, to take huge bribes.
Sources say that Zhou’s family seized assets
worth at least 20 billion yuan.
Zhou had served as the General Manager of China
National Petroleum Corporation for 30 years.
A Wikileaks document shows that Zhou and his son Zhou Bin,
controlled huge interests in China’s oil.

Xia said that under the CCP system, the planned economy
and state-owned business monopoly have caused CCP interest
groups to control China’s economy and all its resources.
Thus national wealth have become private assets.
As Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang try to carry out
economic reform, and overcome the financial crisis,
hence cleaning-up Zhou Yongkang and other obstacles
have become their highest priority.
