Chen Guangbiao’s Scandalous Self-Immolation Stunt Backfires

Wealthy Chinese businessman Chen Guangbiao bragged that he
came to the United States to acquire the New York Times (NYT).
During the press conference, however, he paraded two vulnerable women
with deformed faces allegedly due to the so-called “Tiananmen Self-immolation."
Chen publicized that he would pay for cosmetic surgery for them.

However this press conference was sidelined by Chinese media.

Chinese media not only blocked the news about the plastic surgery
for the women involved in self-immolation,
but allegedly warned Chen Guangbiao “not to play too much."

What is the real purpose of Chen Guangbiao’s trip to the U.S.?

Chen Guangbiao claimed his trip was to acquire the NYT.

When the reporter from China’s China Business News (CBN)
asked him about the NYT ownership structure,
Chen Guangbiao seemingly did not know anything about it.

The Reporter stated that Chen was not necessarily concerned about
“Whether he acquire The NYT or not."

CBN reporter wrote two open letters to Chen.

In his second letter he asked Chen Guangbiao:
What do you want to do in New York?
With you always into making big news, you have not said anything.
The reporter persuaded Chen “not to put on too much show."

China’s senior media professional Gao Yu:
“He is reluctant to let people know the real purpose of the trip.
Chen Guangbiao launched a big team to put on a big show.
If there is no other business plan,he is a pure propagandists for the CCP."

In the press conference in New York,
Chen Guangbiao took with him two women with badly disfigured faces.
He boasted that he would donate for their plastic surgery fee.

The two women did not talk much about their lives or the
surgery issue, but repetitively condemned Falun Gong for a long time.
Their answers to questions from International Organizations
to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong representatives
were full of flaws.

Commentator Lan Shu:"The slow-motion analysis of
Tiananmen Square Self-immolation shows many loopholes.
The generation in their 20s might not know about the
self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square.
With this piece of news, however
they would search online and find out about the truth.
It also shows differences at the
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) top level."

VOA reporter’s first thought when seeing the mother and
daughter at Chen Guangbiao’s press conference was:
“How can a philanthropist who thinks for others
have the mother and daughter who survived from a self-immolation
(without being independently investigated)
and with disfigured faces expose them in public?

New York University of Democracy President Tang Baiqiao:
“Chen Guangbiao wants publicity.
His real intention is to draw attention to the self-immolation
case forged by the CCP.
Why do it at this moment?

I think he belongs to the Jiang Zemin fraction.
The Jiang Zemin fraction made him famous.
Now his boss asked him to put on this shameful show.
He has no choice."?

Chen Guangbiao drew reporters to the press conference
with the purported aim of acquiring the NYT.
However, when he was asked about the progress of the acquisition,
he talked of meeting with reporters of the NYT.
It turned out NYT high-level executives
did not even meet him.

Chinese Embassy Commercial Counselor’s provision indicates:

investment in the United States needs to go through procedures
in China such as those in
Foreign Investment Projects Approved Administration.
The case also needs to be registered and filed at the
Chinese embassy’s commercial department,
before the investigation starts.

Chen Guangbiao said during his interview with the media,
If he cannot acquire NYT,
he would buy other media and transform them.

Gao Yu:"Don’t lose face for us.
This is the representative of China’s new patriotic entrepreneur.?
CCP’s People’s Daily is the first one to collapse without money.
Wang Gongquan who is imprisoned is what people care about,
not Chen Guangbiao."

Three days later CCP official media reported
Chen Guangbiao’s attempt at the acquisition,
without mentioned anything about the self-immolation.

Accordingly, CCP’s National Council Information Office
requires deletion of all online report on this matter.

Tang Baiqiao:"His name will be on the wrong side of history
for ten thousand years. This is very bad.
He will be like Sima Nang who get condemned everywhere.
Media say Sima Nang is being investigated
and all netizens welcome this news."

Tang Baiqiao said that Chen Guangbiao wants to
transform NYT to People Daily.
Tang Biaiqiao is preparing an open letter to Chen Guangbiao,
asking him to behave like a normal human being.
