The Troubled Regime: Atrocities vs. Tigers

During the closing press conference of the Communist
congress meetings, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang
disappointedly skipped the topic of former Politburo Standing
Committee Zhou Yongkang’s crime.
Why did the highly anticipated hot topic fail to come out?
Let’s look at our experts’ analysis.

The Second session of the 12th National People’s Congress
closed at 9 a.m. on March 13.
At 10:30 am, Communist Premier Li Keqiang hosted
a press conference on the third floor of the Great Hall.

Prior to the annual congress meetings, it has been anticipated
that Li Keqiang would publicize Zhou Yongkang’s case
at the press conference.

Taiwan’s United Daily News expected Li Keqiang
to denounce Zhou Yongkang’s corruption as a calamity
and to stress the consensus of the Central and people
to investigate Zhou Yongkang, as well as the smooth
transition of the Xi Jinping leadership’s reform.

However, Li Keqiang didn’t mention Zhou Yongkang
at the press conference at all.

Lin Zixu, political commentator: “To publicize
Zhou Yongkang’s case is like an announcement
of the final battle with Zeng Qinghong and Jiang Zemin.

So Xi Jinping has to prepare well.
Any fault could lead to his final failure.”

Zhong Weiguang, political science scholar: “It has to wait
until the final victory.
The fact that Li Keqiang didn’t announce it suggests
the intensity of the inner-party struggle and something
more evil taking place.”

When Mao Zedong launched the Cultural Revolution,
he first manipulated Peking University to put up posters
of slogans, then he posted his own.

After a long-term struggle, Liu Shaoqi was taken down.

However, the struggle between these two leaders created
tremendous disasters for the Chinese.

Prior to the congress meetings, a series of violent attacks
on civilians took place.
First, former chief editor of Hong Kong Ming Pao
was stabbed.

On the night of March 1, a group of knife wielding attackers
suddenly burst into the Kunming Railway Station, stabbing
bystanders, resulting in 33 casualties and more than
100 injuries.
The regime also arrested and punished 45 netizens
engaged in online discussion of the incident.

Soon after the opening of the meetings, a Malaysia airlines
flight suddenly disappeared in the air.
The regime ordered all media to only report propaganda
department releases.

Zhong Weiguang: “It is bad news that Zhou Yongkang’s case
was not publicized.
More inexplicable brutal incidents may take place in China
through the illegal shady tactics of the CCP."

Last year, more than 30 provincial and ministerial level
officials from the Sichuan faction and the oil faction
were sacked in Xi Jinping’s so-called anti-corruption
campaign after the 18th National Congress.

For a year, Zhou Yongkang’s corruption has been
continuously exposed by overseas media.
Just recently, a massive amount of reports regarding
the corruption of Zhou Yongkang’s family and the arrests
of his relatives and cronies have been released
without directly naming Zhou Yongkang.
Not until the eve of the meetings was Zhou Yongkang’s
name spelled out by Global Times, the overseas version
of state media run People’s Daily.

On the opening day press conference, a spokesperson’s
response of “You understand,” to the question regarding
Zhou Yongkang’s case was interpreted as a confirmation
of Zhou’s investigation.

China Affairs magazine editor-in-chief, Chris Wu,
once pointed out that the reports on Zhou’s former secretaries
and the three generations of Zhou Yongkang before
the meetings were signals to the Chinese that the tiger
was being hunted, so that the people
would not cause any disturbance.

Chris Wu, editor-in-chief, China Affairs magazine:
“It’s been almost one year since reports of hunting the tiger,
and we don’t even get to see the shadow of Zhou Yongkang.

It means there is a greater force that’s stopping it.
They believe it hurts more to the Communist regime.
Xi Jinping might believe that cracking down
on Zhou Yongkang is to save the Communist regime.
If it’s harmful, he won’t do it."

Political science scholar Zhong Weiguang indicates
that the current leaders, including Li Keqiang, might not
have realized the cruelty of the communist regime struggle.

He wants to remind Li Keqiang that the only safe way
is to abandon the CCP.
Otherwise, they might be swallowed
during this cruel struggle.
