Trapped Tigers Become Demons: Xu Caihou and Zhou Yongkang Given “New Hats"

On Dec. 10, detained Xu Caihou, former Vice Chairman
of Central Military Commission of Chinese Communist Party
(CCP), was criticized as being a “double-dealer" and labelled
the Nation’s Demon by Liberation Army Daily newspaper.

On same day, Zhou Yongkang was also called traitor
by the political culture department of the official CCP
media People’s Daily.

The sudden further onslaught of criticism of these two
officials has attracted the public’s attention.

The public wonders whether this is to pave way
for the two to receive the death penalty.

The attacking tigers drama is now in performing
a new act: the new hats are on the harlequin.

Detained former vice chairman of the Central Military
Commission, Xu Caihou, was labelled a “person
on both sides" and “national demon" by a commentator’s
article in Liberation Army Daily on Dec. 10.

This follows on the heels of him being labelled a huge
corruptive official in the army, savage tiger, traitor and more.

The saying, “person on both sides" originates from the story
of “both sides of the country" which is described in
Flowers in the Mirror, a novel written in the Qing Dynasty.

People in “both sides of the country" are born
with two faces.
Facing the people is a humble smile, but hidden
in Haoran Towel is the face of evil.

The article says Xu Caihou is a typical “person on both sides"
who is good at acting, good at camouflaging and good
at covering up his extremely dirty soul
and ugly acts with a mask.

He performed in many farces.

The title of “national demon" is from Xun Zi’s remarks.

In Xun Zi Articles, those persons who are adept speakers
and strongly practice what they preach are called national
treasures while those persons who are adept speakers
with evil behavior are called national demons.

The same day Liberation Army Daily criticized Xu Caihou
as a national demon, Pengbai News, which has an official
background, immediately praised the Liberation Army Daily
article while further depicting the specific image
of the national demon.

The article says that Han Dynasty’s Wang Mang,
who seemingly showed courtesy to others but usurped
power during the Han Dynasty, as well as Chang Chunqiao
of the contemporary “Gang of Four" who also usurped
national power, are both typical historical
national demon figures.

So far, few arrested officials have been given the title of
national demon by the authorities with such heavy criticism.

Wang Mang was killed in the chaos after usurp restructuring
failed.

Zhang Chunqiao was sentenced to death
after he was labelled anti-CCP usurper.

Although currently Xu Caihou was only charged with bribery
and violating discipline, putting on two new hats causes
the public to again speculate what Xu Caihou’s
other charges are.

Mr. Xin Ziling, former President of Chinese Military Academy
Press President: “If the force he represents becomes
dominant, then he is going to seize power.

I remember in the past I have said the Zhou Yongkang case
is connected with the case of Xu Caihou.

Zhou Yongkang was engaging in coup, supporting Bo Xilai
to become the head of the CCP and to oust Xi Jinping.

It is impossible for such a drastic move and a big event
to succeed without the support of the army."

On the same day, Zhou Yongkang, another person also
received a “new hat", for his constant entanglements
with Xu Caihou.

The public web-chat account of “The Political Articles
of People’s Daily" of the political culture department
of the CCP official media “People’s Daily"
published an article on the 10th.

The article says there is little difference between Zhou’s acts
and those of traitors in the history of the CCP.

The article cited five senior traitors who were sentenced
to death in the history of the CCP.

Among the five traitors, Gu Shunzhang and Xiang Zhongfa
were both leaders of the CCP in early stages
and disclosed confidential information to the KMT
before the CCP took the power.

In the last twenty years, Liu Liankun, Liu Guangzhi
and Guo Wanjun were the latter three traitors
who were high-rank military officials and experts
but sold military intelligence to Taiwan.

The Epoch Times quoted political commentator Xia Xiaoqiang
who said that if the citation regarding the five traitors
is interpreted, the first two traitors suggests the heavy loss
of Zhou Yongkang betraying the CCP organization.

The latter three point to Zhou for selling state
secrets, suggesting Zhou betrayed the country.

What does it mean that the CCP media entitled Xu Caihou
and Zhou Yongkang with a heavy new hat?

Independent Chinese political commentator Li Shankan:
“Basically if these persons who belong to the deputy
national-class level are only charged with the original
corruption crime, then their sentence may not be death.

But if we talk about treason and traitors, with these
applicable words, then the death sentence may be possible."

Li Shankan believes that this also reveals
another more important signal.

Li Shankan: “The signal is that the handling of the two men
with the charges of far beyond the corruption.
Actually this has been reported from time to time overseas.

Both of their true crimes are related to the coup
and organ harvesting.

He said he was not in “corruption", but becoming
a “traitor" is a national demon.
I think when I start to break through the corruption,
the appendixed content has large room for improvement.

Li Shankan said that every time the CCP attacks
and processes the highest level leaders,
major damage is caused to the CCP.

Therefore every time the CCP changed such incidents
into large scale movements including propaganda
advertisement, fabricating crimes, and forcing the people
to express their attitudes is consolidating itself.

But the result of the sentencing is not most important.

Completely identifying their crimes and other involved
participants deserves to be highlighted more.
