Has Xi Jinping’s Appearance in Public Stabilized the Situation?

On September 15, Xi Jinping appeared
in public for the first time in two weeks.
Since China’s authorities are reluctant to explain
Xi’s disappearance, speculations are continuing.
People still speculate that the party is divided over
many issues, and the political situation is out of control.
Some analysts think that Xi’s appearance has somewhat
stabilized the situation of the 18th National Congress.
However, losing people’s trust and support is the biggest
crisis the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime faces.

On the morning of September 15, mouthpiece of CCP,
Xinhua News Agency reported that
Xi Jinping attended the National Science Popularization Day.
CCTV’s evening news of the day also reported relevant news.
In this news, Xi Jinping was calm and smiling,
and nothing was different from usual.

However, the Chinese government refused to disclose
where Xi Jinping has been for the past two weeks.
People continue to speculate what happened.

Hong Kong Chinese News Agency
published an article on September 15.
It stated that Xi Jinping had vanished
from public view because he didn’t feel well.
However, his appearance in public now shows that the
agenda of the 18th National Congress hasn’t been affected.

There were rumors that Xi Jinping secretly visited southern
China, and is deeply involved in the CCP faction conflicts.
However, Zhang Jian, an independent commentator
and scholar of China’s social issues, thinks that those rumors are not enough to make Xi Jinping disappear.
This is based on CCP’s power operation rule
and the usual diplomatic conventions.

Zhang Jian: ”The reason that Xi disappeared
should be his health situation.
Now China is experiencing political pressure,
diplomatic pressure in territory conflicts,
internal pressure from social discontent,
as well as and economic pressure.
Only Xi’s health situation can make him
walk away from all of this right now.”

Taiwan’s “Want Daily” also stated that Xi’s first
public appearance was arranged in a school.
But this was not in a meeting with foreign dignitaries.

The reason might be that the authorities
don’t want to disclose Xi’s health situation.
However, Xi’s appearance in public has already
stabilized the political situation in China.
At least it has wiped out speculation
about whether or not Xi can take office.

“Radio Free Asia” interviewed individuals involved
in the rally of Chinese people in Los Angeles.

It reported that Wang Xiaoqiu frequently
organizes friendship activities in Los Angeles.
Wang thinks that Xi had vanished from public
view at a critical time, and the party’s faction conflicts might not be made public yet.
Now it’s the calm before the storm.

Cheng Ting has just visited Shanghai. She said
that the atmosphere in China is so somber and strange.
The CCP authorities try to conceal everything.

In her impression, even in the 1989 Tiananmen Square
massacre, it was not as somber and desolate as now.

Commentator Wang Beiji thinks that the blood-debt
faction is struggling during the last moments.
For example, they are making a lot of noise about
the Diaoyu islands by using people’s nationalistic emotions.
Actually, they only want to achieve
their own aims through the storm.

Wang Beiji: “The state of China’s current society indicates
that the party factions are divided publicly and severely.
The CCP’s current situation is as ridiculous
as that of 30 years ago, if not more.”

Political dissident Wan Runnan was interviewed
by Radio France Internationale (RFI).
He raised a very good question.
Since the 18th National Congress is approaching, however,
is there anyone from the CCP’s authorities who has realized
that losing public support is the biggest crisis they are facing?
They still keep promoting communist things that they don’t
believe themselves, and they think people can be fooled.

Wang Beiji: “The biggest crisis that the CCP
is facing is that they’ve lost people’s support.
There is no doubt about it. The CCP has done
an excellent job in brain-washing people.
However, after 1976, 1989 and the crackdown
on Falun Gong, the CCP’s brain-washing accomplishments have crumbled with more and more.
This is because of overseas information
being transmitted into China.
For example, the website dongtaiwang.com helps
people access to news happening all over the world.”

Zhang Jian points out that the CCP, as a party against
world-wide democracy and universal values of humanity,
will never change it’s nature.
Whoever still holds hope on the CCP is foolish.
Zhang Jian calls for all people to say ‘No to the CCP regime’
by seeing clearly what the regime has done for its people.
