Travel kits for Returning Home for Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year is near,
a tidal wave of returning home has begun.
However, the difficulty in buying ticket s and
commuting still exists.
A recent online release of pictures of returning home travel kits
immediately attracted netizens’ attention and won praises.
The pictures are deemed creative, a true portrayal of China’s
Ministry of Railways, according to the outside comments.
Returning home for Chinese New Year, the world’s largest
seasonal population migration, is a super headache unique to China.
Each year, returnees have gone through two major difficulties
in buying tickets and commuting.
However, it is said that this year getting a ticket will be harder,
Even though new measures were implemented like buying tickets online.
Several online pictures of New Year’s survival kit for returnees
tell of each year’s painful experiences on commuting.
The most amazing outfit is one that “keeps people away
from you"
The creator gives more detailed explanation on it.
The flat shoe is made with countless rivets.
Once someone steps on it, his foot will bleed.
The golden brown chicken can make an alarming sound.
When pinched its piercing cry can resound
throughout the train.
With those overbearing tattoo stickers affixed to your skin,
no one would dare approach you, giving you the best safety protection!
And last but not least the horror outfit is a blood beverage,
drinking it is bound to make others crazy!
Four people created this set of pictures.
The original author, Miss Wang is a website editor in Beijing.
Hearing from a friend who finally bought a ticket home
after having undergone untold hardships,
The four gathered and talked about their own experiences,
then they created the pictures.
For Miss Wang, the most miserable experience her friend
went through was to return home for Chinese New Year when he studied at university.
The Chongqing-bound train was very crowded, he did not go
to the bathroom during the 28-hour journey, for the toilet was full of people.
Nor did Wang eat anything, because he lost his appetite
on seeing so many people.
Other items of kit that Miss Wang created with others include:
“Mini mahjong table, a copycatting cellular battery of 720-day power supply,
adult diapers, cattle not fed with melamine,
woven bags, a folding stool, a privilege card for getting by and
a handy hammer for escaping a rear-end collision “
Netizens strongly called for the Railways Ministry to
set up fixed mahjong tables on the train,
which also raises a non-melamine fed cow to give milk
when passengers are thirsty.
Sun Wenguang(Retired professor at Shandong University)
says: “On Chinese traditional holidays,
the trains or the ships are always crowded with
migrant workers or students returning home.
Ordinary people can not afford to take costly high-speed rail,
even highway commuting is not cheap.
Normal train services are officially reduced to make way
for high-speed rail.
So that causes difficulty in getting an ordinary train ticket.
Migrant workers also cannot afford to ride high-speed rail."
Recently, videos have been released online about the
“2012 wave of returning home at Shanghai Railway Station”.
A post said, the most painful time is returning home
on the Chinese New Year.
Queuing up in the early morning to get a ticket,
jostling to board the train with various items of luggage,
over a 10-hour standing journey
and going to sleep for three days after arriving home.
Huang Qi, founder of 64tianwang.comsays: “Chinese
migrant workers cannot afford to take high-speed rail.
The rail’s targeted consumer is not the underclass or ever more people.
It is designed to serve people in better economic conditions. “
Huang said that the transport sector had set up many service counters,
to serve those special interest groups.
So, a few measures reportedly taken for the general public
cannot be expected to solve the essential issues of today’s Chinese society.
