“Collected works of Bao Tong”, expected to be banned by
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will still be published
July 17th, “Collected works of Bao Tong” by Bao Tong,
secretary of the former CCP General Secretary Zhao Ziyang
and Chinese well-known democrat, will be officially published
by the Hong Kong New Century Press.
According to reports, the book includes more than
100 articles of Bao from 2001 to the present,
covering many issues of Chinese politics, the rule of law,
the bottom of society etc.
Bao pointed out explicitly in the preamble that CCP’s party
history and textbooks are all lies.
He also said that at present, China has entered the era of
peoples’ protecting rights,
and the darkness of corruption and autocracy
will disappear in the process of peoples’ rights.
Justice and freedom, rationality and vitality will be attained
by protecting rights.
The process of protecting rights is the process of establishing
democratic system and
the process of creating consultation and dialogue system
among the various social subjects.
The articles in the book previously could only be published
in media outside China.
As to the publishing, Chinese scholar Yao Jianfu said the
book is bound to become one of the forbidden books by CCP.
Bao always supported Zhao on the June 4th Incident of 1989
that the problem should be resolved in the track of democracy and the rule of law.
Bao was against Deng Xiaoping’s sending out troops
to suppress the students. Therefore, Bao was arrested by CCP authorities.
Afterwards, CCP authorities sentenced Bao to a seven year
imprisonment and two year deprivation of political rights.
This was along with the accusation of “leaking state secrets”
and “counter-revolutionary propaganda and incitement.”
In May of 1996, Bao came out from prison after serving
his sentence.
In May of 1998, Bao got the restoration of his political rights.
He began to take interviews with media and to write independently.
At present, Bao is still in the state of being under house
arrest and monitored.
It’s spread widely on the web that evil police of Shifang killed.
In early July, the people of Shifang, Sichuan Province had
large-scale conflicts with the police for protesting over
construction of heavily polluting molybdenum
and copper plants.
Thousands of special police came to maintain stability.
Among of them, one officer was wielding his baton and
ferociously pursuing a girl in blue.
And the on-site people took pictures of this scene and
posted them on the internet. It caused public outrage.
Afterwards, the special police officer was searched out
by Netizens and his name is Liu Bo.
Recently on internet it spread widely that Liu was attacked
on the head and killed in a supermarket.
And Liu’s house had dung left at the door several times.
But the news has not been confirmed.
When reporters called Liu’s relatives and residents near the
supermarket to verify it, with no result.
Even the police station near Yongfa Road of Mianyang City
replied with vague words.
However, whether the news is true or not, it does not
affect the spread of the news.
Upon seeing it, a lot of netizens talked about it widely and
forwarded the news rapidly.
Most of them clapped and cheered, saying it is “big good news.”
A netizens named “Xinguanchazaixian7” also wrote: It’s said
that the internet in Mianyang had no access frequently.
We don’t know what happened.”
Later on, it is said that Liu was killed. The CCP Central
Propaganda Department commanded not to reveal the news.
The people in the supermarket were warned not to speak freely.
The police arrested several petitioners and released later.
Some people were beaten ferociously.
This event is a big issue with fatal consequences.
It may lead to the police not obeying orders,
so the officials are worrying about it and trying to hide it.
Also some other netizens expressed their disapproval of
repaying evil with evil, violence with violence.
They said that Liu is just a hatchet man, but not evil enough to
be put to death. So they don’t support this practice.
