Chinese Communist Party Bans Over the Wall Tools
Does it Relate to the Right to Struggle?
January 23, several Western media report, one of the popular mainland tools “Internet Proxy Service" (VPN) has recently been banned again by the Chinese authorities. VPN companies informed users that many VPN services will be affected.
Associated Press reported that foreign executives in the mainland said the proxy server block has influenced foreign enterprises; especially medium and small foreign companies who rely on VPN suffer more damage. It’s because large foreign companies can establish their own proxy service station.
Associated Press quoted Associate Professor, University of California, Berkeley Information School, Xiao Qiang: a fierce power struggle or political cleansing is ongoing in the name of anti-corruption within the CCP. This action is obviously related to a large number of CCP high-level political rumors and information on overseas websites.
Micro-channels Suppressed
It’s Surprised Many that Military Newspaper Supports
CCP network control mechanism State Council Information Office recently closed the 133 public micro-channel accounts. Chinese military official newspaper Liberation Army Daily published an editorial on January 23rd, saying the reason to close those accounts is because those micro-channel accounts completely blackened the CCP party’s history, military history and tried to shake the CCP ruling position from its base.
It’s surprised many that People’s Internet Speech Freedom problem is resolved by the military. Some mainland media people posted online, the CCP military newspaper is too anxious. Some netizens said it’s a must for the unpopular regime’s collapse.
Some micro-channel users estimated that micro-channels will soon be the next target for the CCP to suppress Internet speech.
Last Year Nearly 30,000 People Arrested in Xinjiang
January 23, CCP English media China Daily reported that more than 27,000 people were approved for arrest by Xinjiang prosecutors, which is nearly double the previous year’s number. It triggered outside concern for human rights in Xinjiang.
According to Radio Free Asia report, oversea Uyghur organization World Uyghur Congress spokesman, Dilshat said the actual number is much higher than the official announcement. He said the official number is more conservative because it’s based on the cases after the judicial process. There are a lot of illegally detained people without judicial process. The authorities did not provide such numbers.
Dilshat said the growth in arrests reflects the increased repression of the Uyghurs by the CCP. It continues. He believes that this year, there will be more Uyghur arrests and disappearances.
