8月3号,多家西方媒体报导说,中共前重庆市委书记薄熙来妻子谷开来被控故意杀人案,将于8月9号在安徽合肥开庭。报导引述法庭发言人的话说,对谷开来的庭审将在下星期四上午开始。届时公众和媒体的旁听将会受到严格控制。

《华尔街日报》报导,英国外交官已向中共当局要求要求旁听审讯,但是周五还没有接到回复。美国有线新闻网(CNN)则透露,谷开来的两名家庭成员将会出现在旁听席上,不过报导没有说明他们的身份。还有报导说,被害者海伍德的两名家人也将获准参加庭审。

而香港传媒则透露,案件会在庭审后约一周内结案,并指称,谷开来的判决结果已内定在15年至死缓,同案的薄家勤务人员张晓军将被判死刑。

《美国之音》援引律师的话指出,从谷开来和张晓军的地位看,很明显,谷开来是杀人案的主犯,而张是从犯,谷的量刑理应高于张。

维基解密:政治暗杀触及中共高层

《维基解密》网站去年公布的一份电报中说,南京一名学者表示,政治暗杀和暴力发生在中共政界,甚至偶尔会触及到高层领导。这份电报是2007年10月5号发往美国华府的。

这份电报说,南京大学教授谷某(音译)表示,据他一位在北京市公安局工作的亲属透露,前中央政治局委员、中纪委书记吴官正的长子,在2007年1月被谋杀。当时吴的儿子去山东青岛出差。据说,尸体三天后才在酒店的客房被发现。这位亲属表示,吴的儿子被杀涉及吴官正对上海前市委书记陈良宇的高调腐败调查,和对一位不具名的北京市委领导人的腐败调查。谷教授的亲戚推测,是这些领导人下达了谋杀吴官正儿子的命令。

电报还说,谷教授表示,2006年,中共国家主席胡锦涛的儿子也曾成为暗杀目标,但没有成功。因此,胡锦涛的儿子之后被加强保安。

上海工人罢工 警察暴力镇压

8月2号中午,上海闵行区浦江镇的中外合资“上海斯米克控股有限公司(CIMIC)” 的工人,因劳资纠纷罢工,当局派出三百多名警察和特警镇压,警察对工人拳打脚踢,喷辣椒水。据《中国茉莉花》网站报导,最少有5名员工被打伤,一人被打断腿,多人被捕。

报导说,事件起因是斯米克上海厂区关闭部分生产线,辞退大量员工,却无合理补偿,导致上千员工在6月底发起罢工至今。

高温断电 深圳千人怒围派出所

8月2号深夜,深圳龙岗南岭村发生上千名居民包围派出所并堵路的示威事件,警方派出大批警察到场驱散居民。

正值炎炎夏日,深圳龙岗南岭村南洋花园小区却连续两天无故停电断水达20多个小时,8月2号晚上,有业主到物业管理处投诉,却遭到殴打。业主报警之后,赶到的警察却包庇物业管理员,引起大批业主的强烈不满,上千人聚集在南岭派出所门口讨公道,并堵塞交通干道,使周围交通瘫痪数小时。

当局派出大批防暴警察到现场戒备,警察手持盾牌,并筑成人墙阻隔示威者,双方一度爆发冲突,愤怒的民众高喊口号抗议。事件一直到凌晨两点才结束。

Gu Kailai Goes On Trial

On August 3, several Western media reported that Gu Kailai
will be put on trial in Hefei, Anhui Province on August 9.
Gu Kailai is the wife of Bo Xilai, a former secretary of
the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Chongqing. She was accused of homicide.
The report quoted a court spokesman saying that
the trial will begin on Thursday morning.
During that period, hearing by the public
and media will be strictly controlled.

The Wall Street Journal reported that British diplomats requested
the CCP authorities to observe the trial, but had no reply on Friday.
CNN revealed that two family members of Gu Kailai
will appear in the public gallery, but did not specify who.
Reports said, two family members of the victim Heywood
will be also allowed to participate in the trial.

According to Hong Kong media, the case will be settled
a week after the trial.
It also alleged that Gu Kailai’s verdict has been
designated at 15 years to death with reprieve.
The co-culprit and house-keeper Zhang Xiaojun,
will be sentenced to death.

Voice of America quoted the lawyer as saying,

“Comparing the status of Gu Kailai and Zhang Xiaojun
its obvious that Gu was the main culprit of the murder,
while Zhang was an accomplice.
So Gu’s sentence should be stronger than Zhang’s.”

Political Assassination Within CCP

WikiLeaks released a cable in 2011
from Professor Gu from Nanjing University.
He said, political assassinations and violence exist among
politicians of the CCP, and involve high-rank officials.
The cable was sent to Washington DC, US,
on October 5, 2007.

Professor Gu says that the son of Wu Guanzheng, secretary
of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, was murdered in January 2007.
At that time, Wu’s son went to Shandong Province
for business. His body was found in the hotel room.
The informant said the death of Wu’s son
was related to a high-profile investigation.
An investigation into the corruption of former Shanghai CCP
secretary Chen Liangyu, and an unnamed leader in Beijing Municipal Committee.
The informant speculated that those under investigation
issued an order to murder Wu’s son.

The telegram says Professor Gu realized President Hu’s son
had also become a target for assassination in 2006.
This resulted in a failure,
and Hu’s son was further protected.

Shanghai Workers Strike Suppressed

On August 2, workers of Shanghai CIMIC Holdings Ltd
in Minhang District, went on strike due to labor disputes.
The local authorities sent out over 300 policemen and
special policemen to suppress the protest.
Policemen punched and kicked workers,
and sprayed chili pepper water.
China Jasmine website reported that at least five people
were injured, one’s leg was broken, and many were arrested.

The incident was caused by production line’ part closure, and
dismissal of large numbers of employees without reasonable compensation.
So thousands of employees went on strike since late June.

Angry Protest on Power Outage

On August 2, over a thousand residents in Nanling, Shenzhen
surrounded the police, blocking the road for demonstrations.
Large numbers of policemen were sent to disperse them.

In the summer heat, Nanyang Garden Community in Nanling,
had no power or water for over 20 hours in two days.
In the evening of August 2, one owner went to complain
at the property management office, but was beaten.
The owner called the police. However, after arriving,
the police covered the issue in the office.
Over a thousand people gathered
at the Nanling police station to ask for justice.
They also blocked traffic,
causing a traffic gridlock for several hours.

The authorities sent a large number of riot police to the scene.

The police held shields, and built up a human wall
to block demonstrators.
Conflicts broke out amongst the two sides. Angry people
shouted slogans in protest. The event lasted until 2 am.
