Chen Guangcheng Future Uncertain:
Three Requests Covered Up
Blind activist Chen Guangcheng’s future
has still not been secured.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
promises have become blabber.
At present, Beijing’s Chaoyang hospital where Chen
is being treated is still surrounded by guards.
BBC reporter Ma Teng said that Chen staying in the hospital
has “not much different as in jail.”
The guards didn’t allow anyone to visit Chen.
Outsides are all cautiously watching whether
Chen can study abroad.
After Chen escaped house arrest, he released a video online
that requested three demands from Premier Wen Jiabao.
However, these three requests have been distracted by what
has happened after he left the U.S. Embassy.
Commentators said that this result
was Zhou Yongkang’s plan.
He detained Chen’s family members and threatened Chen
to leave the US Embassy.
Zhou then deliberately violated the agreement,
causing the US to be blamed.
On April 27, Chen Guangcheng asked Wen to investigate
the persecution towards him.
Chen exposed on video that Zhou Yongkang’s Political and
Legislative Committee was lawlessness and corrupt.
The cost for persecuting Chen is 30 Million Yuan
(US$4.8 Million) in 2008.
It rose to over 60 Million Yuan (US$9.7 million) in 2011.
Chen questioned in the video: “Are local party cadres
violating the law, or is central regime ordering them to do so?”
Chen directly pointed to Zhou Yongkang.
China expert Shi Zangshan said that now Chen has made
this accusation of corruption towards Zhou Yongkang,
it has been covered up by the CCP by allowing Chen
to study in the U.S. via a so-called “formal channel”.
US Media: Chen Guangcheng Breaks Obama’s Dream of CCP
The Chen’s incident has deeply impacted Sino-U.S. relations.
On May 5, the Washington Post reported, “Crisis over blind
activist Chen Guangcheng pushes U.S. and China down familiar path.”
The report states, that “just as the Tiananmen Square
massacre in 1989 froze President George H.W. Bush’s plans for Sino-American comity…
…the travails of Chen, the blind lawyer, have now punctured
what human rights campaigners deride as the Obama administrations ‘illusions’ about CCP’s ruling.”
Report also said, during the negotiation of Chen’s case,
the CCP promised Chen’s safety before he left US Embassy.
It meant U.S. diplomats could visit Chen freely.
However, U.S. diplomats have been barred from visiting
Chen since he was pushed into a room in hospital.
The report quoted Bob Fu, Chairman of China Aid, stating
“China is not trustworthy and can’t keep its promises from one day to the next.”
