20,000 Netizens to China Red Cross – “Take a Hike!”

After Ya’an earthquake occurred, China Red Cross reacted
immediately with disaster relief information on its microblog.
However, the group served as the main “non-governmental”
donation platform after Wenchuan earthquake.
Yet, it failed to recover its reputation
among the Chinese people.
In three hours, over 20,000 comments saying, “Take a Hike!”
were posted by Chinese netizens on its microblog.

After Ya’an earthquake, China Red Cross announced on its
microblog that 500 tents will be donated to disaster relief.
The announcement received over 600 “thumbs-down” clicks.

The whole message board was filled with comments
like, “Take a Hike!” by the netizens.
China Red Cross then simply disabled comments
to stop netizens from leaving messages.

Zhang Jian (China-issues observer, US): ”The Chinese
can sniff any charity with an official background.
China Red Cross and other public interest organizations
massively collected donations from Chinese people to fill their own pockets.
They never tell the public where the collected funds are
and how are they used.
They look like black holes to any thinking netizen.”

Over the years, China Red Cross has been criticized
for appropriating donations.
The public seriously questioned where the billions
of donations went after the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake,
and when China Red Cross was in charge
of managing a considerable part of the money.

Globally, most Red Cross organizations are operated
independently from the government.
However, China Red Cross has close connections
with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authority.
It has been a subordinate body of the Ministry of Health
for several decades.
It is also one of the very few organizations that are allowed
to collect donations by the CCP authority.

Chen Shuqing (Chinese dissident, Writer):
”China Red Cross is a typical official institution.
Therefore its moral base line has to be consistent
with that of the CCP’s official circles.
For example, it does not follow donators’ requests
on how to spend the money.
This has greatly hurt those with compassion
to help the poor, or courage to do the right thing.”

A netizen told a story of a Beijing restaurant owner
who wished to help after the Wenchuan earthquake.
He knew that donating money directly would not work.

Therefore he contacted China Red Cross to donate
RMB 100,000 worth of hot water bags.
However, China Red Cross responded
with the price of RMB27 per bag.
The owner decided to purchase the bags himself,
Learning that the market price per bag is only several Yuan.
When he asked the Red Cross to distribute the bags for him,
they said he had to pay RMB10 per bag commission!

Zhang Jian: ”CCP’s regime has nurtured bureaucracies,
which spare no effort to exploit people.
Natural disasters and human foes only motivate them
to do this even more.”

Zhang warned that Ya’an earthquake will probably give
CCP another chance to “handle a funeral as a happy event.”
The party may again stage a performance of “caring about
Chinese people” from the earthquake victims’ suffering.

In addition, true rescue volunteers have been intercepted
or even detained by the CCP on their way to Ya’an.
It is learned that founder of 64tianwang.org, Huang Qi,
and volunteer Pu Fei had formed a rescue team for Ya’an, but were arrested by authorities.

Xing Jian (Volunteer, 64tianwang.org):
”They must’ve been in an urgent situation.
He (Pu Fei) only sent six characters (in Chinese) saying,
“Stopped and arrested; spread the news.”
His cell phone was then disconnected,
and Mr. Huang Qi’s cell phone was also restricted.”

Zhang Jian remarked that CCP’s complete destruction
of traditional culture led to all kinds of chaos in ethics.
This isn’t limited to China. Their immorality spreads abroad
and hence Chinese gain bad reputations around the world.
Many local governments have made posts in public places,
writing, “Good Manners in Public” in Mandarin.

Zhang Jian: “Either in hotels or other places,
you see such warning messages written in Chinese.
Are these insults to us? They really aren’t. It’s true, Chinese
have done a lot that irritate others in foreign countries.
We need to think why things turn out like this.
The answer is that CCP has destroyed the Chinese culture.
It knows nothing about being temperate, kind, courteous,
restrained and magnanimous.
It has completely forgotten our tradition of morality.”

Chinese economist Lang Xianping once commented that,

China Red Cross appropriated donations, made enclosures
with zero payment and laundered money by blood donations;
all its leaders have to be dismissed for that.
