Deadly H7N9 Bird Flu Breaks Out in China – a Test for Xi-Li
On April 4, Shanghai authorities announced that
another person has died of avian flu H7N9 virus.
The 48-year-old victim worked delivering
of chickens and ducks in Jiangsu Province.
This is the fourth person to have died recently
from the H7N9 virus in Mainland China.
Ten years ago, when SARS first broke out in China,
the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) covered it up.
The SARS epidemic spread out of
control, which caused lasting concern.
When similar events occur again, people will become more
concerned that the tragedy of a decade ago will repeat itself.
Therefore, the international community are now focused on
how Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang will deal with this outbreak.
On April 3, the Zhejiang Provincial Health Department
announced that
there were two people who had been infected with H7N9,
one of whom has already died.
Plus the two deaths in Shanghai, three people have
died after being infected with H7N9.
In total, the number of those infected has
increased from 7 to 9 on the official database.
However, Radio Television Hong Kong has reported
information from the Fifth People’s Hospital of Shanghai.
Four patients have died with similar symptoms.
This number is different from the official figures available.
A staff member from the Shanghai Centers for
Disease Control said that
it’s not clear where the H7N9 virus came from
or whether it can be “infectious person to person”.
A staff member of the Shanghai Centers for Disease Control:
“At present, is it from dead pigs, dead ducks or some other source?
We are not sure. Also there’s no H7N9 vaccine
which is currently available.
Please read the media, read the official media.
I suggest you that don’t trust the information online.
It’s better for you to just focus on the official media.”
The U.S. Chinese media The Epoch Times has reported that
ten years ago, when SARS started spreading
from the south of China,
the CCP leader Jiang Zemin only took care of stability,
threatened “to maintain stability at all costs,
it was not even a pity that
two million people had died.”
The report also pointed out that how CCTV reported SARS
was decided solely by Jiang Zemin.
The CCP also distributed an internal order from Jiang
that if any local source reported a SARS infection,
the local official in charge would be fired.
At that time local officials didn’t dare to report
the SARS epidemic.
They tried their best at finding ways to hide and
cover up the epidemic.
Many observers believe that this intentional neglect
caused the epidemic to spin out of control,
finally it spread to 20 provinces, and nearly 30 countries,
with over 8,000 people infected, more than 800 of whom died.
In total, the loss to the economy
reached the figure of 30 billion USD.
People still feel the hurt to this day, which is why they feel
even more scared with the increasing number of
infections and reported deaths.
They look to the Xi – Li government and what it will do
to make sure that history will not repeat itself.
Sima Tai, a political affairs’ commentator said that in the
CCP dictatorship, covering up the truth has become a tradition.
The CCP always hides negative news. Si Ma Tai feels the CCP
doesn’t care about people’s lives, which are worthless in it’s eyes.
Sima Tai: ”After SARS, the CCP has reflected internally.
However, it’s first reaction is still to cover up
although it’ll be better than before.
The CCP is worried that the H7N9 outbreak will repeat the
scandal of the SARS cover -up if they hide the truth too much,
So they have published a little bit of news on line,
that at first glance looks transparent”
Lin Zixu, a Political commentator says that,
the H7N9 bird flu outbreak is a crucial test for Xi-Li.
Lin Zixu: “If the CCP doesn’t face this issue actively now,
the related information must be spread rapidly by
micro-blog which will push things into a dead end.
If the webmasters of the CCP dare to delete related blogs,
people will be strongly dissatisfied.
If the truth related to people’s life is blocked,
people won’t sit and wait for death this time.”
Lin Zixu has pointed out that, if the CCP reports the truth,
or if the truth is unveiled by people, then Chinese people
will know that the CCP only cares for its own benefit.
The Chinese people will know its government doesn’t care
for the lives of it’s people, this will impact the regime.
If the epidemic ends up expanding, people will hate the CCP
because it hid the first infected case for almost a month.
Furthermore, Lin Zixu says that, once the public is allowed
to report the epidemic, a door to free express ion will open,
this is something that the CCP is very scared of.
