Hu Jintao Couldn’t Touch Zhou Yongkang But Xi Did
Earlier this year, at the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
Beidaihe meeting, media from home and abroad spread rumors
about Zhou Yongkang, former head of Politics and Law
Committee.
These said that Zhou’s subordinates and confidants
were repeatedly arrested.
Observers said that Zhou Yongkang became a must-fight
“dead tiger".
Recently, Hong Kong’s media released shocking news:
It said that the CCP Politburo meeting was held in August,
during the meeting, all attendees agreed to put Zhou Yongkang
under investigation.
Xi completed what Hu Jintao couldn’t do five years ago
when Hu wanted to arrest Zhou but conditions didn’t allow it.
Hong Kong’s Front-line magazine reported that approval of
the decision in the Politburo meeting juiced up the atmosphere.
Xi Jinping also announced: Investigation of Zhou Yongkang
start immediately;
the content of the decision shouldn’t be leaked out,
it will be announced after 3rd Plenary Session.
Wang Qishan leads the investigation team formed by the
Disciplinary department, General Office and Ministry of
Public Security.
The team must investigate to the end without mercy.
Front-line magazine also revealed the first person wanting to
fight Zhou Yongkang was not Xi Jinping but Hu Jintao.
In the Spring of 2008, Song Ping, a retired member of
Politburo traveled to Hainan Province.
A property seller’s land was illegally confiscated and
put up for auction by the local court.
Regarding this outrageous corruption case,
Song told Provincial leaders to solve it.
However, the leaders relied on Zhou Yongkang, didn’t take
retired Song seriously.
The auction still went ahead, finally they gained huge
interest from the auction.
Song Ping brought the case file with him to see Hu Jintao.
Hu couldn’t refuse his “respected teacher", meanwhile Hu
was shocked by the fact of the corruption.
Then several ministerial-level officers were removed
including China’s top rich man Huang Huangyu.
Sources said that 57 provincial-level officers had been
involved in the case.
They all belonged to Zhou Yongkang faction and worked
in the Politics and Law Committee.
Hu Jintao deeply hated that Zhou’s secretary Ji Wenlin was
apparently under the guidance of Zhou, leaking confidential
information of investigation team to military gang Yang Hui.
It resulted that a key criminal Liu Penghui escaped to the US,
thus many corrupt officials were get away from the punishment.
After the incident, Hu suggested that Jiang Zemin, former head
of the CCP investigate Zhou Yongkang’s involvement.
However, Jiang replied that the “CCP’s internal decision
can’t be amended".
The member of Politburo bureau is immune from prosecution.
Since then, Hu’s efforts to arrest Zhou was in vain.
Li Shanjian, independent commentator: “Hu always wanted to
remove Zhou.
However, as soon as it started, it means to break up
with Jiang faction, and everything will come to a show down."
Li Shanjian said that Hu Jintao was restrained by Jiang Zemin,
lacking real power to remove Zhou Yongkang.
Lan Shu, current affairs commentator: “During Hu Jintao’s
tenure, Jiang’s power and influence were very strong.
Jiang needed Zhou Yongkang to persecute Falun Gong,
continuing to carry out the policy of the persecution."
Lanshu said that due to the persecution of Falun Gong, Jiang
Zemin faced lawsuits in many countries for allegations of
“crimes against humanity". Jiang has no way out, so he tried
his last effort to protect Zhou Yongkang.
Since Xi Jinping took office, Zhou’s subordinates
and confidants were repeatedly arrested.
On Sept. 25, caixin.com in Mainland China published
an article – “Huang family’s Laguna Beach".
The article revealed current information of Zhou Yongkang’s
son, Zhou Bin, his wife Huang Wan and his parents-in-law.
It said that Zhou Bin had returned to his Beijing home
from abroad a week ago.
It apparently confirmed overseas rumors that
Zhou Bin was placed under house arrest."
According to “China Petroleum University" website, on Oct.1st,
Zhou Yongkang participated in a series of activities on his alma
mater’s 60th anniversary.
Surrounded by a gang of school leaders, Zhou referred to
Xi Jinping at least three times in his speech.
Outsiders believe that Zhou doing so is not only showing
the meaning of sincerity, but also clarifying the rumor
about himself under investigation
Lan Shu: “There are lots of interest groups within the CCP to
do benefits exchange and get satisfied interest.
After they gained the interests, they may not necessarily to
carry on a real deal."
Some foreign media also pointed out that Zhou Yongkang’s
appearance is not like a China official’s activity of denying
the rumor.
Beijing independent scholar Gao Yu also believes that Zhou’s
appearance doesn’t mean anything based on the analysis
of examples such as:
The former Communist Party leader Liu Shaoqi, Lin Biao,
and the former Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai’s downfall.
