US Categorically Rejects Communist Accusation
he Communist mouthpiece recently launched an attack
against the US and referred to foreign interference in
Occupy Central.
The US State Department rejected such allegations as
completely false and a diversion of the focus.
Analysts indicate this is the usual practice of the Communist
regime to deliberately discredit civil appeals.
Since the beginning of Occupy movement, the CCP has claimed
the movement is backed by “foreign interferences".
People’s Daily criticized the NGO and think tank in the US have
manipulated and plotted the Occupy Central movement.
It said that, Louisa Greve, a director of the National Endowment
for Democracy of the US (NED), was already meeting with the
key people from “Occupy Central" several months ago,
to talk about the movement.
Accordingly, a Land Destroyer report indicated Washington
and Wall Street are directing the politicians and protest leaders
behind “Occupy Central" through the US State Department’s
National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
Hong Kong Legislative Council Albert Ho: “This is completely
unfounded.
It is to discredit the democratic movement in Hong Kong.
The NED has always funded civil societies in the world,
including Hong Kong, in the universal suffrage.
Sometimes people are arranged to visit the US.
In fact, both the pro-Beijing camp and the pro-Beijing DAB
(Democratic Alliance for Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong)
have received their funding as well. The money was not much.
Compared to what the CCP invested in Hong Kong,
it is completely out of proportion."
In its article regarding the 10 questions on Occupy Central,
China News pointed to the Western forces.
It identified an American author and researcher, Dan Garrett,
as a “flagrant spy" and referred to the Hong Kong-America Center
at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as the training base
for the student leaders in Occupy Central.
Former People’s Daily reporter Guang Yuan: “CCP’s official
media never seeks truth due to a lack of supervising mechanism
for one.
Second, even if they claimed the Occupy movement is funded
by some US organizations, where is the evidence?
Without any evidence, you can’t win the trust of the people.
It could confuse people, perhaps."
The US Department of State deputy spokesperson Harf stressed
on the daily press briefing that the State Department do not
have a role in this Occupy movement.
She said, “What is happening there is about the people of
Hong Kong, and any assertion otherwise is an attempt
to distract from the issue at hand."
Hong Kong Legislative Council Ip Kin-yuen: “The Occupy
Central is certainly a spontaneous movement.
Majority people came out because the Hong Kong Government
used tear gas, or realized democracy is greatly hindered."
Guang Yuan: “The people have spontaneously joined the
movement. How can so many people be instructed?
They are over 18 years of age, adults,
who have their own judgment and ideas."
The Sunday Times reported on the 12th, public ire towards
the chief executive has intensified after the exposure of CY Leung
being paid more than £4m in fees under a pre-existing contract
with the Australian engineering company UGL.
Beijing accuses US of a Hong Kong plot
and the “foreign interference" in Hong Kong.
Albert Ho: “It’s their routine. After the Tiananmen massacre
in 1989, the students were accused of being influenced and
instructed by foreign forces such as the US.
Look at it, it has been over 25 years and there is no evidence.
The Communist Party always made up some lie to discredit
its opponents and to explain its own deeds.
They would never admit their deeds have lost the support
of the people."
China Digital Times indicated that if foreign forces can indeed
incite a democratic movement of sacrificial and moral appeal,
the CCP’s organizational capacity and financial resources
would have had great appeal to the Hong Kongers who would
have returned to the mainland.
It has failed simply because the incitement must comply and
be consistent with the beliefs of the people.
This is one the biggest loopholes in the theory of
“inciting foreign forces."
