Vipin Bhatia is a passionate bird lover from India’s northern city of Ludhiana. His passion for helping injured birds started when he was just 16, when a baby sparrow was killed after it hit the ceiling fan in his room.

“As a child whenever I used to see injured birds, I used to feel I should do something for them as they are speechless and helpless and no one is there to take care of them."

The experience changed Bhatia, and in 2008, he started an NGO called Save Birds. He provides shelter to injured birds and nurses those who are able to fly again.

Bhatia has been taking care of birds for almost two decades now and many have received his love and many have been returned to their natural habitat.

“Right now we have around 125-150 injured birds and until now I have treated more than 5,000 birds in my life and released them to Mother Nature."

Birds recuperating under Bahtia’s care include pigeons, eagles, an owl, crows, doves, parrots and many more.
