Taiwan’s resigning cabinet officials take a parting photographs together in Taipei after a cabinet reshuffle. It’s replaced a number of ministers following public outcry over their response to a deadly typhoon earlier this month.
在行政院改组后，总辞中的台湾行政院官员们，在台北拍一张临别照。由于本月初几位政府官员对致命台风做出的反应，造成大众的强烈抗议，有好几位部长被撤换。
Liu Chao-shiuan has resigned from his post as premier amid criticism that the government did not act quickly or strongly enough after Typhoon Morakot drenched the island’s southern mountains, triggering massive landslides and killing close to 800 people.
在莫拉克台风在南部山区的滂沱大雨引发大面积土石流、并且造成接近800人的伤亡后，由于政府未能尽速或有力的行动，导致刘兆玄在批评声中卸下阁揆的职位。
Liu Chao-shiuan was replaced on Monday, September 7th by Wu Den-yih who says that the new cabinet will focus on rebuilding public confidence.
吴敦义在9月7日星期一取代刘兆玄，并表示新内阁将会把焦点集中在重建大众信心上。

Taiwan’s entire 42-member cabinet offered to resign, but not all members were replaced. Most analysts don’t expect big changes in the foreign, economic or China policies from the new cabinet.

Taiwan leaders typically replace top officials in response to criticism of the government, but some in Taipei feel regret to see the old premier go.

“Of course it will be better because the new cabinet will put in more efforts. In terms of how they handled the disaster, I think that because it was a natural disaster, it was a pity that Premier Liu had to step down. I hope Taiwan will be better with the new people because Taiwan belongs to all of us."

“The old premier handled things a bit too slowly, this was the main reason, but he did well. He responded slowly so people were unhappy and requested that he stepped down, but this was just because of the natural disaster."

Typhoon Morakot swept across the island in early August this year bringing torrential rain, triggering the worst floods in 50 years.
莫拉克台风在今年8月初横扫全岛，带来豪大雨并且导致50年来最严重的水灾。
