Couple Survives 492-Foot Car Plunge in Australia

It was a harrowing experience for one couple in Australia Wednesday, and his wife, Melanie Baik, were driving through a mountain road in Grampians National Park in Victoria state, when they lost control of their rented car on a slippery bend.

The sedan slid and rolled down a 500-feet slope before coming to a stop at the bottom.

Local paramedics say the couple was very lucky to survive such a freak accident.

[Unidentified State Emergency Services Officer]:
“Obviously it was in a fairly precarious position, but I believe we were able to secure it quite well. And once they were able to do that, in conjunction with the ambulance officers, the casualty was removed from the vehicle."
