Questions Over Timing of Recent Urumqi Bombing

The recent Urumqi bombing was labeled
as a terrorist attack by the Chinese authorities.
The explosion took place during the
last day of Xi Jinping’s visit to Xinjiang.
Concern has been raised over
the coincidence of the incident.

Let’s hear the report.

At 7.10pm on April 30, an explosion took place
at the south exit of Urumqi Railway Station.
On May 1, mainland Chinese police announced
the case of a serious terrorist attack was solved.
According to the report, suspects stabbed people with a
knife and detonated explosive device at the station exit.
The incident resulted in 3 deaths, with 79
injured. One civilian and two suspects died.

Currently, there has been no organization or
individual claiming responsibility for the attack.

Reuters reported that, “dozens of police vans
were parked around the station, while camouflaged
police with assault rifles patrolled its entrance.

Despite the security, the station was busy
and appeared to be operating normally.”

Chen Zhonghe, China Democracy Party founder: “It is
mainly because of wrong policies for ethnic minorities.
There is total discrimination and suppression of the
Uyghur minority by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

It makes all Uyghurs dissatisfied with the CCP.

The explosion was not accidental, but
rather a conscious protest towards tyranny.”

On May 1, the World Uyghur Congress appealed
to Beijing to rationally handle the incident.

It called for the release of arrested innocent
Uyghurs and stop manipulating the incident to
incite hatred towards, and demonize Uyghurs.

Is it coincidental that the bombings took place on the
last day of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Urumqi?
Xi was accompanied by Politburo Standing
Committee member Yu Zhengsheng.

He was also accompanied by Xinjiang Party
Secretary Zhang Chunxian, and Chairman of the
Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Nur Bekri.

Responding to the attack, Xi Jinping said,
“Decisive actions must be taken to resolutely
suppress the terrorists’ rampant momentum.”

Li Shanjian, China affairs commentator: “The
timing of this explosion is quite questionable.
One possibility is that political forces are involved, as
social panic creates pressure for the current leaders.
The other is that ‘maintaining stability’ will
take place in the event of such an incident.
Certain people will thus get to enhance
their own authority and power in the region.”

China affairs commentator Li Shanjian describes
the situation during the Jiang Zemin era.
The former Secretary of the Politics and Law Committee,
Zhou Yongkang, manipulated the system to create a second
central power source, that was costing more than the military.

It is said that the Zhou Yongkang’s pending
court case might trigger CCP infighting.

The recent Urumqi bombing was a reminder of the
Kunming Railway Station attack two months ago.

29 people were killed and 143 injured.

It was claimed that this was also a
terrorist attack committed by the Uyghurs.
This was despite serious questions raised over this by
people within China, and in the international community.

China Democratic Party founder Chen Zhonghe
believes that the CCP dictatorship is the cause
of much of the turbulence in Chinese society.

Chen Zhonghe: “The authorities believe
force and use of guns are omnipotent,
but it considers the people as enemies.

They don’t resolve issues, but only escalate
small incidents into major acts of violence.
So, there might be more bombings from
people who want to protest such tyranny.”

Li Shanjian: “The various social conflicts are
becoming sharper and more acute in society now.

Such incidents seem to be a norm in China.

Thy only way to resolve these problems is through
solving the root of the conflict, which is the CCP.”

On July 5, 2009, the CCP violently
suppressed Uygur protests in Xinjiang.
Beijing authorities only admitted that
there were 46 Uighurs within the 198 deaths.
However, the World Uyghur Congress estimated 600 to 800
Uyghurs were killed, 900 injured, and thousands arrested.
In 2009 November, the CCP sentenced
nine arrested Uyghurs to death.
